On May 11, 2024 a strong geomagnetic storm led to a stunning light show visible to the naked eye in many parts of Australia. Having recently moved to southern Tasmania, I found myself in an enviable position to capture this incredible natural event, which some say is the strongest aurora seen for a century. This is my record of that magical night when a kaleidoscope of colour danced across the sky.
